Ready Player One tuvo su primera proyección pública durante el festival SXSW en Austin. La respuesta inicial del público y críticos ha sido muy buena.
La adaptación cinematográfica de Ready Player One, dirigida por Steven Spielberg y protagonizada por Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Lena Waithe y Ben Mendelsohn debutó durante el festival SXSW 2018 en Austin, Estados Unidos, donde recibió una ovación de pie por parte de público presente.
No solo estuvo presente el director, también parte del reparto y el escritor del libro que también se encargó del guión, Ernest Cline. Al terminar la película, el público explotó en un aplauso sonoro con una ovación de pie.

No solo había fans y actores entre el público, también habían algunos críticos de cine anglosajones importantes, quienes han puesto sus primeras impresiones de la película en Twitter:
